HZPC Holland supports a number of charities every year. Small-scale projects are selected in the Netherlands and also abroad. The Charity Committee evaluates the charities that are recommended by various colleagues. In 2014/2015 € 10,000 was distributed among the following projects:
Educatieondersteuning internationaal (international educational support)
With this project, we want to offer 'bachelor's' and 'pre-university' students the opportunity to study at the National College in Bagepalli in India. Bagepalli is an agricultural area in an extremely dry climate. The area floods every five years, often followed by food scarcity.
Thanks to this project, the children of farming families in this area can obtain a financial contribution in order to study. HZPC has been supporting this project for three years up to 2016. This support allows college fees for twelve students to be paid (six bachelors and six pre-university).
Global Mission Possible
Annagreet Tilma introduced a project from the 'Global Mission Possible' organisation. Global Mission Possible enables people from western countries to get an introduction to projects to which a contribution can be made in Africa in particular. HZPC has donated money towards the construction of an agrarian school in Kenya.
The Energy4Kids foundation finances scientific research into the emergence and treatment of mitochondrial diseases. HZPC donated to this charity at the request of a grower.
Cycling tour for charity
To commemorate the tenth anniversary of HZPC UK, some employees came up with the idea of cycling from the office in Crowle, North Lincolnshire, UK to the HZPC head office in the Netherlands via the Hull-Rotterdam Europoort crossing. The tour of over 450 kilometres took in Alkmaar, Metslawier and Joure among other places. The British colleagues were able to collect a sizeable amount of money for charity. HZPC Holland also made a contribution. The € 7,000 raised was donated to the British Alzheimer's Society and a local community hospice.
